Ths Snakes on ITV News & Sky TV

Hold on a minute...can this be true? Well, not exactly. A Snakes fan was interviewed about hospital closures on ITV news last week, while wearing his Snakes T-shirt! (Nice one Craig!)
Then, on Sunday night, Sky1's new comedy Stella, there's Ruth Jones sitting infront of the Snakes logo! For some reason there is a Snakes bass drum skin hanging on the wall!
What ever next? The Queen waving a Snakes album from the royal coach? ...No, that probably won't happen, she's more of a Redlands Palomino fan or Dogs D'Amour, or The Korgis of course.

Snakes on vinyl, by a river and on a roof...
The Snakes have cut a vinyl record as part of the Never Records art event, which was part of the on going Merge Festival. There are only two copies in existance, one of which is now a permanent part of Never Records, an art installation in the shape of a record shop! New York Artist Ted Riederer has created, or recreated, the store over the last few years in New York, Liverpool, Derry & London. The song the Snakes recorded was Never Going Back (to Nashville anymore). Also, as part of the Merge festival, Simon & Johnny from The Snakes performed on the riverside in front of the Tate Modern and an open air concert on top of a building behind the Tate that is home to IPC Media (Uncut, NME and many many other publications). Both these performances can be found somewhere on youtube! And finally, nothing to do with the Snakes, but you may be interested in the Jamie Reid exhibition currently showing at the Bear Pit in Southwark, a retropective of his work so far, including many Sex Pistols related pieces. Press Release:
S O M E T I M E S O O N . . .
LABEL RED EYE MUSIC. CAT. NO. REDEYE013
RELEASE DATE SEPTEMBER 27 2010
Four years since the release of their much celebrated debut album Songs From The Satellites, The Snakes long-awaited second album Sometime Soon...
The new album follows 2008's fan pleasing 5 track EP, Extended Player, which prompted Americana-UK to brand The Snakes, "The new heroes of British country-rock". More recently they made a notable appearance on the Clubhouse Records compilation, Divided By A Common Language - A Collection Of UK Americana, which inspired Uncut magazine to describe them as "Muswell Hill's own Whiskeytown". Emerging through the UK Americana scene alongside bands like The Redlands Palomino Company (who share The Snakes drummer Dan Tilbury), they blend the instinctive feel and energy of classic 60's rock `n` roll with the subtleties of sweet country-soul as well as a more menacing and introspective personality that draws from early blues. Legendary BBC Radio 2 broadcasters Bob Harris and Mark Lamarr both declared themselves fans of the band, with Mark Lamarr inviting them into the studio for a live session soon after the release of Songs From The Satellites, having been particularly impressed by the dark, twang laden delights of 'I'll Be Around'. That distinctive country rock sound is alive and well on Sometime Soon... though the band have also extended their horizons, via a more dynamic palette of musical colour and texture. Songs like 'What Have I Done' and 'Cumberland Breeze' nod towards the dusty Arizona desert sounds of Calexico, whilst 'Refrigerator Blues' and 'Jesus In A Box' recall the twisted blues of Captain Beefheart or Jon Spencer. There's also plenty of melodic, sun kissed West Coast harmony in songs like 'We Can Fly' and album closer 'Black Cat'. Traversing a broader musical landscape, The Snakes sound more confident and assured of their own direction than ever before. 'Sometime Soon...' may have been a long time coming, but it's been well worth the wait.
"Phenomenal" Mark Lamarr,
"Muswell Hill's own Whiskeytown" Uncut,
"Fantastic" Bob Harris,
"New heroes of British country-rock" Americana-UK.
